Don’t Get Caught Stealing Home   (For High School Seniors)

Don’t get caught stealing home is a one hour presentation that Joe built for high school seniors. Joe talks to the high school seniors about the traps that await them that can keep them from graduating as they are trying to steal home plate. These seniors have spent four years preparing for this moment in time, graduation, and they may get put out trying to steal home plate and be forced to hit the showers before they graduate. This is geared for all seniors who have a tendency to get spring fever throughout their senior year. They lose their focus and feel that whatever they do to just squeak by in their senior year is OK, because they have already paid the price, spent the time and the school owes them a diploma.

Balance, Boundaries and Buddies   (For Elementary, Middle and High School Freshman)

Balance, Boundaries and Buddies was developed for elementary,  middle school and freshman high school  students who are struggling with what is coming next in the most exciting and confusing years of their life. Joe explores with them the areas of Balance that help them set the path for moving from the pillars of today onto the pillars of tomorrow using the bridge of diversity, They will learn how to set a balance in their life in school, at home, personally and in the community. Joe discusses how to establish worthwhile and lasting Boundaries in their lives now. The one hour session helps the elementary student look inside out and determine what type of limitations they have to build to cope with the challenges of a new school. Joe discusses when selecting Buddies to be sure they are looking for the same balance we are, living with the same set of boundaries and are the types of friends that will challenge us to take the higher road. This assembly program is laced with adventure learning activities that involve the students with fun and entertaining adventure learning experiences that bring the message to life. Each adventure learning activity helps the students to visually absorb and assimilate what the message has to offer in advice. This program has been delivered with positive results at North Lake College for 5th graders at Johnston and Schulze Elementary Schools and the freshman class at Boswell High School.

The Fish Heads- Student Mentoring  (For High School Juniors and Seniors To Mentor Incoming Freshman)

This program was designed to pair a top quality junior or senior mentor with 4-5 incoming freshman students and help mentor them through their first year in high school. The program helps to train the mentors and prepare them to meet the many challenges that the incoming freshman will face. The program teaches solid mentoring principles that are taught in major corporations and brings these principles to the high school level to prepare the junior and senior mentors for their new roles using a series of learning experiences in the classroom and outdoor adventure experiences to put what they have learned into practice. The program has spelled success at Boswell High School. The program has cut the drop out rate and lowered discipline problems.

Bullying    (For Elementary and Middle School)

This program is designed to get the faculty, student body and parents involved to help stop bullying.  On any given day, approximately 160,000 students skip school to avoid being picked on.  About 60% of bullies in 6-9th grade end up with a criminal record by age 24 and victims can suffer from depression and anxiety for a lifetime.  This program is designed to eliminate bullying so children won't feel they have to skip school to be safe, so victims won't seek revenge and so fewer children will end up with criminal records.  The assembly will help students, faculty and parents to:  Take a stand, Lend a hand and Stop bullying now. The program uses experiential learning techniques to involve the students in identifying  bullying tactics and helps them to better understand their roles and responsibilities as victim and bystander in a bullying situation.  Through a custom designed role-play students are challenged to watch a current bullying situation and then after training helps them to identify what they are to do if they see or are involved in a bullying situation at their school.
